While I am traveling, I always look to buy flowers from a local street vender. The flowers serve many purposes. First, it helps the local economy. Second, it helps me interact easier with the local community. When you carry flowers down the street, you look like you live there. I have also found that bright colored bouquets help me to be seen when crossing busy streets. I learned this tip while navigating the streets of Bangkok. Lastly, the flowers instantly make me feel welcome in a strange land. I look at the flowers and I am home.
