The morning is my favorite part of the day. If I miss it, I am grumpy all day. It doesn’t happen often, only when I can’t sleep. There are so many possibilities that await in the dew of the day. So much so, that I wrote a poem about it. (See below) This painting shows all the joy I feel. I look at these colors and it just makes me feel good. It is almost like eating my favorite almond croissant without the calories or the guilt.

Early morning 

while the sun

and the moon say 

their goodbyes, 

the dew of the day 

is delicious.

I rush out to catch 

the smell of optimism 

while it still lingers.

Walking, I await 

the unexpected. 

Surprisingly, she 

never disappoints. 

Sometimes she 

appears in a waking bloom.

Other times she is 

in the knowing wink 

of a fading lady.

How can I possibly paint 

this one beautiful life?

I walk

I paint

I repeat
